It doesnt get any easier...
I fly to America a week on tuesday, but to be frank, it feels like I am never going to get there. This being apart just doesnt get any easier. It just gets harder. I hate it, and can't wait until 2 june when it is over.

Hey Joel Osteen! See how it ought to be done.
Some of you may have seen the Joel Osteen clip on themetrocalvinist.blogspot.com . Here John "a man's man" Macarthur shows how it is really done. Note how the soundest guy there (Macarthur) is the one who is not hiding behind clerical garb! (It's a bit long - 4 minutes).

Weekend update.
It's been a quiet weekend here in the S-T-L. I'm a little sad to see it come to an end. I braved the malls on Friday to do a little Christmas shopping. The rest of the weekend was spent baking and hanging out close to home. Here are a few pictures that tell the story of the weekend:
The Freedom Crepe: strawberries, blueberries, and creme fraiche. Yummy!
I wait all year long for kiss cookies!
Tiny Tarts: pumpkin and pecan.
Spritz cookies are like a memory in my mouth! These were always one of my favorites when I was little because I got to decorate the cookies with red and green sprinkles.

An Icy afternoon in University City
Glad I have welly warmers!Ice on the bushes.
...but the fire is so delightful. I'm tucked inside where it is warm, enjoying a cup of tea, and attempting to finish some reading projects.

Thanksgiving Eve Traditions.
Every year, after spending the evening before Thanksgiving cooking and cleaning our family always sits down to enjoy a yummy meal of Chinese food. Tonight we ordered food from P.F. Changs. As a special Thanksgiving treat they gave us free lettuce wraps. They were amazing and are now my new obsession! After our meal we always settle down to watch Miracle on 34th Street and welcome in the coming Christmas season. However, tonight we were all too tired to make it through the movie so we're going to watch it in the morning while we eat breakfast.
This is my last Thanksgiving at home before I'm a married woman. It is hard to believe that from here on out I'll celebrate Thanksgiving as Mrs. Brown! I'm excited about sharing family traditions like Chinese food and Christmas movies with Alex. I'm equally excited about creating new traditions for our new family.
My favorite holiday.
For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
For flowers that bloom about our feet;
For tender grass, so fresh, so sweet;
For song of bird, and hum of bee;
For all things fair we hear or see,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee!
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
