Oh the weather outside is frightful.

Saint Louis is being hit by our first winter storm. It's a powerful one that is dumping a lot of freezing rain and ice right now. Sometime tonight it is supposed to start snowing. They are saying we might get up to 1o inches of snow!

An Icy afternoon in University City

Glad I have welly warmers!

Ice on the bushes.

...but the fire is so delightful. I'm tucked inside where it is warm, enjoying a cup of tea, and attempting to finish some reading projects.

Our family portrait.

We had a little too much fun at work yesterday. We decided to take a cheesy "family portrait" of the youth staff to send out with a Christmas card. We found some lovely sweaters and turtlenecks and posed in front of the youth room tree. There were lots of laughs and I'm not sure people should have this much fun at work!

This is the picture we are using for the card.

One of the many outtakes

What's up with Brad and that cheesy face?

Fun times.

The Thanksgiving Festivities.

The Thanksgiving Table

Mmm. Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potato Brulee, Green Beans with Goat Cheese, Roasted Brussel Sprouts, Sausage Apple Stuffing, and Cottage Cheese Rolls. I ate way too much!

But, I left room for Pumpkin Pie.

Thanksgiving Eve Traditions.

Every year, after spending the evening before Thanksgiving cooking and cleaning our family always sits down to enjoy a yummy meal of Chinese food. Tonight we ordered food from P.F. Changs. As a special Thanksgiving treat they gave us free lettuce wraps. They were amazing and are now my new obsession! After our meal we always settle down to watch Miracle on 34th Street and welcome in the coming Christmas season. However, tonight we were all too tired to make it through the movie so we're going to watch it in the morning while we eat breakfast.
This is my last Thanksgiving at home before I'm a married woman. It is hard to believe that from here on out I'll celebrate Thanksgiving as Mrs. Brown! I'm excited about sharing family traditions like Chinese food and Christmas movies with Alex. I'm equally excited about creating new traditions for our new family. Posted by Picasa

My favorite holiday.

(last year's Thanksgiving table)

For each new morning with its light,

For rest and shelter of the night,

For health and food,

for love and friends,

For everything Thy goodness sends.

For flowers that bloom about our feet;

For tender grass, so fresh, so sweet;

For song of bird, and hum of bee;

For all things fair we hear or see,

Father in heaven, we thank Thee!

~Ralph Waldo Emerson
